# **Porcelain stoneware makes your pool unique**

The choice of porcelain stoneware to complete the finishing of a swimming pool guarantees countless advantages from a technical point of view: this material **is in fact waterproof, therefore it is not damaged in any way by the presence of water**, and perfectly resists the aggression of atmospheric agents and sunlight; this is why it is **perfect to be used outdoors** without being damaged.
The versatility of stoneware and the possibility of obtaining tiles of countless colours and sizes allow **extremely elegant results, regardless of the type of pool you intend to create**.
Porcelain stoneware, in fact, can be used to finish:
- **Underground pools**: this type of pool requires that the edge of the pool is positioned at the same level as the surrounding surface, which can be tiled or covered with earth, gravel or other materials. Underground pools allow to obtain aesthetic results of great effect, because they guarantee a **visual continuity between the surface of the water and that of the environment**. This effect is particularly amplified in the case of **"infinity" pools, where there is no edge that emerges from the water to mark the boundary of the pool**. For the final result to truly live up to expectations, it is very important to take care of the finishing of this type of pool, choosing materials, colours and laying schemes that allow **to make the most of not only the pool itself, but the entire context in** **which it is placed**.
- **Basement pools**: if the pool is only partially underground, and **there is therefore a more or less high pool edge that separates the water from the surrounding environment**, it is called basement pool. These types of pools – which are preferred, especially in the presence of children, also for the reduction of the risk of accidental fall – can be enhanced by the use of special materials for the coating of the walls and the edge, with the aim of **better integrating the pool into the environment and ensuring maximum safety**.
- **Pools above ground**: this category includes the so-called "furnishing pools", made without excavations and which **are therefore completely external to the floor level**. This type of pools can be installed, as well as in the open, even in partially covered spaces such as large verandas, gazebos, canopies and so on, and **can be particularly elegant and refined, especially if the right materials are used to cover the walls and the edge**.
